So,
today we are going to speak about one of the most effective methods of
infertility treatment IVF.But very often spouses who’ve tried to conceive for a
long period of time and are told to use IVF just don’t know what it means and
how it’s conducted.
Let’s
start from the simple definition. IVF which is also known as In-vitro
fertilization or just in-vitro is applied since 1978. In-vitro is based on the
fertilization of female’s eggs with her husband's/donor’s
sperm outside her organism. Eggs are cultivated (bred till a certain
developmental stage) with a special medical equipment in the lab. The most
viable embryos are transferred into the patient’s uterus.
In many
cases infertility is caused by physical inability of egg and sperm cell “to
meet each other” in a natural way. But if woman is able to bear a child on her
own, fertility specialists just fertilize the eggs out of her body.
IVF
procedure is usually recommended for spouses in cases of inferiority of sperm cells (disorders of its mobility
and viability); abrupt decrease of sperm cell amount; disorders of
deferent ducts; endometriosis; peritoneal infertility; hormonal disorders or
problems with ovulation; tissue incompatibility.
Generally,
the whole IVF procedure resembles the natural process of conception. Due to the
ovarian stimulation maturation of the eggs is performed. Movement of eggs
through the fallopian tubes to the uterus is conducted due to the follicle
puncture. The stage of embryo cultivation works for the meeting of an egg and a
sperm cell which can’t occur in the fallopian tubes and formation of the
embryos. The next step is transfer of embryos into the uterine cavity.
As you see, IVF is not such a complicated process it might seem at the first sight. The only thing it requires is courage, patience, support and belief in the successful result.
